What’s your first name, what did you study at Murdoch and when did you graduate? Michael , Engineering and I haven’t graduated yet
Where did you go on Exchange, how long did you stay and what did you study? I studied abroad at Binghamton University in New York State of the United States. I was there for 1 semester and I studied Engineering.
How did you find out about the Exchange program? I heard about the exchange program through one of the tables set up at Murdoch's Open day (or guild day). I then emailed Jeannette about the program and then it all just kind of happened.
Why did you choose to go on exchange? The adventure!
What were the highlights of your experience? There were way too many to have just a few, the first ones that pop into my heads are as follows 1. Making incredible friends! 2. My first Frat party, it was literally just like the movies and the many many parties that followed. 3. The adventure of exploration. E.G. having St Patrick's Day in Boston or going on Spring Break to Florida. 4. Visiting New York City.
Do you have any long term ambitions for your career?
My biggest ambition is to move overseas to live in the US and one day start my own engineering company.
Have your long term ambitions for your career changed since you have come back from Exchange? From going on exchange, I found my thirst for adventure as well as happiness in exploring different cultures. On returning from exchange, my friends and I decided to plan a 10 week RV road trip around the United States. This took almost a year of planning and saving, and I have just recently returned from this trip and had the time of my life!!! My ambition before exchange was to simply graduate and start a career, however, after exchange and the trip that followed, I now want to graduate and go and live and work in America (but also still explore the world).
How has the Exchange program changed your life The exchange program has opened many doors, allowed me to grow as a person and above all, it has given me a glimpse into how big and diverse this world is and how much fun it can be to explore it. The exchange program has definitely changed my life in the best possible way. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone with the same thirst for adventure!
