Afrah's Exchange to Uppsala University | Sweden
My name is Afrah Alnasseri an international student from Oman. I study forensic science and molecular biology at Murdoch University. I went on exchange for a semester to Sweden. I guess everyone who read that I am an international would wonder why I went on exchange. Let me tell you why, exchange program can give any student a huge change in their lives.
With exchange you could try different university system. Uppsala University was more focused on science and genetic studies. I got to work in a genetic class which was so interesting and made me thing more deeply into my degree. Also, I finally know for sure that I actually like what I am studying because I have always been debating whether I like my study or not so after Sweden I can say I love what I am doing.
There are a lot of reasons why I choose to go on exchange and specifically to Sweden. The first reason can be because I want to try to study in different university in a Scandinavian country. I always loved to travel and discover new places so being in Sweden allows me to do what i always loved. I got the chance to see all Sweden’s cities and learn about the Swedish culture. Travel Europe as well as Sweden, it was something incredible.
I knew about exchange through one of my friends who went on exchange and she really loved it so she encouraged me to apply for it. I have decided before I applied for exchange that I want to go to Europe for exchange.
I went through the exchange website to see what countries they have available. Then, I start looking into Sweden and find the right units at the university I wanted. After that I have applied to the university and I have found the units I wanted and I have got approved from Murdoch University to study the units I wanted to do over in Sweden. I have attended before departure meeting for all students who wants to go on exchange. It was good because I got to meet all students who were going on exchange.
Sweden was like miracle for me. I had experienced so many things and I have changed in different ways. I have been more independent and I have done most of my things by myself. I have learnt how to know myself and what I like. I have met a lot of people from around the world. I got the chance to travel to nine European countries which was my dream for very long.
I feel even I keep writing about the exchange program I would never stop. Indeed, it was something incredible and if I had more time I could be gone for a whole year. Exchange is an amazing experience.
