It was only in my final year of Study that I was convinced by a good friend to study overseas and how lucky I was that I listened to them. Exchange is the opportunity of a lifetime that you will remember for the rest of your life and is something you will remember for the rest of your life. I strongly encourage you to take the effort to take part in this amazing opportunity. Studying abroad is a great way to grow and immerse yourself in another culture.
Having to move to a country where you know no one and support yourself completely is a challenging yet rewarding experience. During my time abroad I met many amazing people and got to partake in many great adventures, while also getting to explore Europe. I created lifelong friends that I plan to see again in the near future. Uppsala is an amazing university to attend with a rich history and great culture that is incomparable to Australian University life. The Student Nations are a uniquely Swedish tradition, which act as guilds of a sort. These are places exclusive to students, run by students for students which offer a place to go out for food with friends, relax, study or party at an affordable price for students.
The way Uppsala University runs its classes is a little different to your typical Australian University. In Uppsala you will typically be doing one unit at a time, this allows for full immersion in the unit and you to focus solely on the topic, I would recommend experiencing this learning system as I feel it provides a great way to learn. Uppsala is located close to Stockholm making travelling around Europe a breeze which I highly recommend you take advantage of. I visited a multitude of countries during my time in Sweden. Travelling was by far my favorite endeavor while I was abroad and I encourage anyone who attends a European university to take the opportunity while there to see Europe, the student visa allows you to travel freely to much of Europe, where you get to experience the wonderful diversity that it has to offer.
